Memo to Afghanistan

Our groveling President has already apologized for the accidental burning of several copies of the Quran. In response, one of your protestors outlined your position in the following statement:

“We don’t care about Obama’s apology. We have to protest to be responsible to our god. They are burning our Qur’an. An apology is not enough.”

You continue to piss on our leg and tell us it is Allah's tears.

So, please allow me to step up to the plate and offer you this:

It's a book...paper and ink.

The White Man is a Burden

When the white man discovered this country, Indians were running it.
No taxes, no debt, women did all the work.
White man thought he could improve on a system like this.

I think my cat is a Muslim...

The changes in his attitude have been subtle and I can't quite put my finger on it.

The Lease

The deer hunting season has ended. We can go the lease and still enjoy the last of the winter nights. There is no electricity or running water, so we bring we what we need. After sunset we prepare our meal, usually large hunks of meat with other stuff. Then we gather our camp chairs around and start to build up a large fire.
If Robert is there, he will go all out as evidenced by the above photo. His fires are memorable.

We sit and pour whiskey into our little stainless cups and we sip while smoking cigars. Whatever is spoken in this place is not to be repeated elsewhere. It is our sanctuary. The camp fire is why we are there.

Robert brings his accoustic guitar and sits nearby and plays. He plays for himself but we all benefit from the impromptu concert. Sometimes we hum along and even pipe in when we remember the lyrics. Accompanied by the warmth and crackle of the fire, this is Big Mojo...Soul Candy.

As the hours pass, more and more large logs are placed on the fire and we settle in and relax. My mind calms and I begin to let go of the small demons. The fire and companionship cleanse me once again. The brain just starts random firing and all kinds of stuff comes and then goes. I am me again...rare shit indeed.

Thank you, My Brothers, for these weekends.

News with Commentary from the Burrito of Truth

A new feature with interesting news items I like along with commentary that has been telepathically received from the Burrito of Truth.

Without further ado:

A Graham, Washington man, who was a "Person of Interest" in his wife's disappearance, set fire to his residence killing himself and his two young sons.

Prior to the fire, the boys had started talking with their grandparents about the night their mother vanished. The oldest boy talked about a camping trip taken by the family and that "mommy was in the trunk" of the vehicle.

Burrito of Truth Commentary:

There is a valuable lesson to be learned from this event:

When killing your spouse DO NOT BRING THE KIDS. Drop the children off at Chuck E. Cheese's or rent them a Disney movie and leave them at home. Think about it. Based on all the adult-based crap you dish out to your kids, they will rat you out in a heartbeat.  When you stupid, your whole body suffers.

A warning...
